Courses with Guest Teachers 2011

In this unique and intensive course we will explore the deep connection between asana, pranayama and philosophy.

Key concepts from the main text of classical ”Yoga-Sutra” are shown relevant not only to our practice of yoga on the mat but are also put into an everyday context - the theme will be:

"Walking the path of the Razor’s edge"

“Obstacles and roadblocks are bound to arise on the spiritual path. Where one man chooses to stop the inner quest when the first obstacle comes his way, another decides to go forward no matter how many difficulties he encounters. The difference does not necessarily lie in the nature of the problem , but rather in the attitude with which the obstacle is approached, the steadfastness and patience applied, and finally, the approach sought out. The capacity to endure the tension and suffering that often accompanies our difficulties is a valuable ability indeed. Stumbling blocks and human suffering [dukha] often shape our character, mature our path. They are life lessons which reveal both our best and our worst qualities. Ultimately, these challenges are the very soil from which virtues grow. To be sure, they are humbling teachers, and yet they are a natural part of life and the spiritual quest”.
-Gitte Bechsgaard

In the greater work of the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali teaches that obstacles are an unavoidable part of the inward journey. This weekend we will examine how this regressive force manifests, and how it varies from person to person.

Claus Wittig teaches pranayama, Jette Berring Asana and Gitte Bachsgaard philosophy and chant.
